Protecting Your Shoreline: A Workshop for Lakefront Property Owners
Michigan has more than 11,000 inland lakes. Michigan State University Extension is sponsoring a Michigan Natural Shoreline Partnership education workshop for property owners interested in creating, restoring, and managing natural shorelines. This workshop is designed to educate interested lakefront property owners on natural erosion control methods and will discuss techniques for using natural landscaping along the shoreline to provide erosion control and habitat value while maintaining the aesthetic value of the lakefront.
This workshop is co-sponsored by Oakland County Parks and Recreation, along with Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Clinton River Watershed Council, North Oakland Chapter of Wild Ones, Oakland County Water Resource Commissioner’s Office, Freshwater Forum at Cranbrook Institute, and the Wildflower Association of Michigan.

Cost: Registration cost is $50/person on or before March 7, 2016. The cost is $60/person on or after March 8th. Workshop registration fee includes light morning refreshments, lunch, educational resources, and a copy of MSUE’s 70-page “Natural Shoreline Landscapes on Michigan’s Inland Lakes: Guidebook for Property Owners.”
Deadline to register is March 14, 2016. After this date, please call (248) 858-1639 to see if space is still available. A $25/person cancellation fee will be assessed for those requesting a refund on or after March 15, 2016. No refunds will be given after March 17, 2016.
